[12:38]<@Calum> oh Virgin...I sing your praises and now you are failing me
[12:53]<camerongray> lol, what's up?
[12:54]<@Calum> was just downloading Ubuntu and I tried 3 different mirrors before realising it was my connection giving me 500K, not the mirror
[12:54]<camerongray> Ahh, ouch!
[12:54]<@Calum> yeah heh
[12:54]<@Calum> need to give them a call at the weekend as we've had a few outages, nothing long, just a few minutes, but still
[12:54]<@Calum> and a few periods of slow speeds
[12:55]<camerongray> Yeah
[12:55]<camerongray> Ours is generally okay
[12:55]<camerongray> Dropped down to 40 once but fixed by restarting the 'super'hub
[12:55]<@Calum> could be worse though, we've been through 2 weeks of "pass the blame" at work where one of our sites has had 70K download speed, or nothing, and an hour of 9MB then back to 70K...
[12:56]<@Calum> yeah the hub is awful, do you have the old one or the superhub 2?
[12:56]<camerongray> 2
[12:56]<@Calum> ah, I've heard the 2 is better in terms of stability
[12:56]<camerongray> It seems pretty nice really but I just use it as a modem - Mikrotik is the router
[12:56]<camerongray> My friend has the original one, it's horrible
[12:56]<@Calum> the old hub was better for stability but doesn't support over 50Mb if I remember right
[12:57]<camerongray> 117days uptime on the server and mikrotik :P
[12:57]<@Calum> that's the pre-superhub I mean
[12:57]<@Calum> ah nice
[12:57]<camerongray> That server is the atom board I bought off you :P
[12:57]<@Calum> cool :)
[12:57]<@Calum> still need to get me a mikrotik
[12:58]<camerongray> Yeah, tehy are so nice!
[12:59]<@Calum> been looking at blade servers again recently, found a pretty nice unit for £300
[12:59]<@Calum> 4 blades, each with 8GB RAM and 2 L5420s
[12:59]<camerongray> lol, all for folding? :P
[12:59]<@Calum> heh, I don't actually do F@H any more, but yeah, for distributed computing
[13:00]<camerongray> Ahh :P
[13:00]<@Calum> and because it looks cool
[13:00]<@Calum> should be more power efficient than 4 individual servers
[13:01]<camerongray> Yeah
[13:01]<camerongray> Tempting :P
[13:01]<@Calum> hehe
[13:01]<camerongray> Colo would be too much though as you would need to pay for 4U+power
[13:01]<@Calum> I'm considering selling my remaining units off and grabbing one instead, not sure
[13:01]<@Calum> yeah I wouldn't go colo for this kind of stuff, doesn't really make sense
[13:02]<@Calum> actually though it's a 2U form factor, which is why it's more space efficient too
[13:02]<camerongray> Ahh nice!
[13:02]<camerongray> The CompSoc machine is still going :P
[13:02]<@Calum> plus it has 12 drive bays, pretty amazing for the size, bet it runs hot & loud though!
[13:02]<@Calum> ah nice, glad to hear it
[13:02]<camerongray> Think it needs the CPUs reseated as it seems to start fine now after I gave it a thud
[13:02]<@Calum> lol
[13:03]<camerongray> I'll do it all properly once it's been PAT tested
[13:03]<@Calum> yeah
[13:03]<camerongray> We usually end up working on that stuff after being at the pub so we never have tools :P
[13:08]<@Calum> lol
[13:08]<@Calum> just discussed the situation with Cassie and she's all in favour of me going for the blade servers, but only if I sell all my current ones
[13:08]<@Calum> so, putting them up for sale right now :P
[13:09]<camerongray> lol!
[13:10]<@Calum> fancy another one or two? ;)
[13:14]<camerongray> hehe
[13:28]<@Calum> got them up for sale now
[13:34]<camerongray> nice!
[13:34]<camerongray> Where about?
[13:35]<@Calum> just put them up on the OcUK members market for now, no fees or anything so it's nice and simple
[13:37]<camerongray> Ahh yeah, nice!
[13:38]<@Calum> put them up for £50 each for now to give me room to haggle
[13:38]<@Calum> but that's with a single CPU and minimum RAM etc
[13:41]<camerongray> Ahh yeah
[13:42]<@Calum> do you a deal if you fancy some more ;)
[13:42]<@Calum> you know you want to
[13:54]<camerongray> lol, no need for them :P
[13:55]<@Calum> worth a try
[13:55]<camerongray> hehe
